After you accept a tender, the Shipper may expect you to keep the shipment's status and location updated as it moves from pickup to delivery. You can do this automatically with automated tracking (mobile app or ELD), or manually by entering updates in the Emerge application yourself.
Step 1: Open the shipment
Go to the Manage tab, click Shipments, and select the shipment you want to update
Step 2: Choose a tracking method
On the shipment page, click Add Tracking Method and select one of the following options:
Manual
EDI
Automated (Macropoint)
Step 3: Update the truck's location (manual tracking only)
If you selected Manual tracking, update the truck's location multiple times per day while the shipment is IN-TRANSIT to stay compliant with the Shipper's tracking requirements.
In the Tracking section of the shipment page, click UPDATE TRUCK LOCATION.
Enter the current location by searching the city and state, or the zip code, then enter the date and time.
Click Save.
Step 4: Update stop times (manual tracking only)
In the Stops section of the shipment page, click Edit Stop Times to update the pickup and delivery details for each stop:
Enter the ETA (estimated time of arrival), Actual Arrival, and Actual Departure times for the pickup stop.
Repeat the same process for the Actual Arrival and Actual Departure times at the delivery stop.
Click Save after each update.
Note: All times must be entered in 24-hour format (for example, 14:30 instead of 2:30 PM).
How stop updates change the shipment status
Emerge automatically updates the shipment's status based on the times you enter in the Stops section:
Entering Actual Arrival at the pickup stop moves the status to AT SHIPPER.
Entering Actual Departure at the pickup stop moves the status to IN-TRANSIT.
Entering Actual Arrival at the delivery stop (the consignee, or the party receiving the shipment) moves the status to AT CONSIGNEE.
Entering Actual Departure at the delivery stop moves the status to DELIVERED.
