Ready to connect FedEx Freight to your account? Once your account is linked, you'll be able to compare rates and book freight with FedEx Freight. This one has a few more steps than most carriers, so grab a coffee and follow along — we'll walk through it together.
Connecting FedEx Freight
Head to the FedEx developer portal and log in with your FedEx credentials to start getting your API credentials.
Once you're logged in, create an organization: click "My Projects" on the left sidebar under Menu. (Already have an organization? You'll see a "Manage Organization" option above "My Projects" instead.)
When creating your organization, choose "Ships with FedEx and needs to integrate FedEx APIs into their system" from the dropdown.
Enter your company name, company website, organization name, and country/territory, then select "Create."
Add a shipping account: click "Manage Organization," then "ADD ACCOUNT." Enter the billing address and account number tied to this address (FedEx will validate that the billing address matches). Then accept the End User License Agreement.
Create an API project: go to the "My Projects" tab on the left, then click "Create API."
Select "Ships with FedEx and needs to integrate FedEx APIs into their system" from the dropdown, then click "Next."
Select the APIs for your project one at a time. Choose "Ship, Rate & Other APIs" (this covers LTL pricing and pickup requests).
Select the "Freight LTL API" from the list, then click "Next" at the bottom of the page.
Configure your project by selecting the countries you'll ship to and from. Be sure to select every country you'll be shipping to and from, then click "Next."
Accept the terms and select "Create."
You'll land on your API project overview page. Select the "Production key" tab in the top right. You can rename this key and enter the account number tied to your shipping address.
Once your project moves to production, your Production API Key and Production Secret Key will appear. Copy these immediately — they're only shown once and can't be retrieved again.
Repeat steps 6–13 to generate your tracking production API key and production secret key.
With your keys in hand, head to your account. Click the three dots on the left-hand side, then select "Carriers" from the dropdown.
On the Carriers page, type "FedEx" into the filter field and select "FedEx New." This opens the FedEx Freight connection form — enter your API keys and account numbers, then click "Add Carrier" to finish.
