How to Use Clone Constraints in Scenarios

Clone Constraints lets you copy constraints from an existing scenario into a new scenario

Updated over a week ago

Overview

The Clone Constraints feature allows shippers to quickly set up and manage scenario constraints by copying them from an existing scenario. This streamlines the process, saves time, and reduces errors—especially for users who handle multiple or recurring events.

Why Use It?

  • Save time by copying multiple constraints at once.

  • Reduce manual errors and ensure consistency across scenarios.

  • Automatically validate cloned constraints for missing or invalid data.

How to Clone Constraints

  1. Create a new scenario.

  2. Click View Constraints

  3. Select the option to Clone Existing Constraints.

  4. Search for an existing constraint

    1. Favorited constraints appear at the top of the list.

    2. Favorite a constraint: To favorite a constraint, click the star icon next to the constraint name. You can add or remove favorites as needed.

    3. Click View to open the constraint in a new tab

  5. Select your desired constraint by clicking on it

  6. Name your constraint and click Clone Constraints

After cloning, the system will automatically check for missing or invalid data in the cloned constraints.

Validate Constraints

Before running your scenario with the newly added cloned constraints, you must click Validate Constraints. Validation is required prior to running the scenario.

Filling Missing Data

If there is invalid or missing data being copied over to your current scenario (ex. participant from previous constraint isn't available in current constraint), you will need to resolve these before running your scenario.

How to fix missing data

  1. Locate the '! Missing Data' tag on your constraints

  2. Click the three dots and select Edit

  3. Click Edit and update the constraint to include valid data

  4. Once all missing data is resolved, click Save and Validate

    1. You can also Save as Draft, which is helpful if multiple constraints need updates or corrections. You can work at your own pace and validate only when everything is ready.

  5. Click Add Constraint to Scenario

  6. Review your constraints and click Validate Constraints

  7. Click Run Scenario
